Zagat recently asked chefs across the nation, ‘What are the next hot food cities in the US?’ The Phoenix and Scottsdale area made the top 10, as culinary experts are beginning to take notice of the great food scene. Here’s a look at 7 of our favorite restaurants in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area – make a reservation as soon as you can!
7. The Breadfruit
The Breadfruit is undoubtedly one of the best spots in Phoenix to grab a cocktail, with fantastic options including the Rum Old Fashioned, as seen in the video below. Thier dinner menu includes fantastic seafood options like Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass and Pimento Wood Smoked Mussels. Or, if you’re looking for a taste of Jamaica, go for the Blue Mountain Goat Curry – it’s delicious.
6. Ticoz Latin Kitchen

Ticoz is serving up modern Latin-American cuisine, and they’re doing it right. They have a large menu that includes everything from street tacos to Blue Corn Enchiladas. The Pork Chile Verde Mac N’ Cheese is a must try, be sure someone in your party orders it so you can steal a bite.
Located just a short drive away in Tempe, we had to include Haji-Baba on our list of places you need to visit. It’s a no frills, local favorite Middle-Eastern spot. Grab a Chicken Shwarma, Gyro, and don’t you dare leave without trying the Baba Ghanoush – it’s divine.
4. Carolina’s Mexican
Carolina’s original location is on E Mohave, but they also have two other locations, so you’re never too far from great Mexican food in Phoenix. Their Oaxaca Special is one of a kind, featuring Beef Chorizo, Beans, Potatoes, and Cheese. The Shredded Beef Tacos are simple and perfect, and if you’re in the mood for a great Mexican breakfast, you’re in luck: Carolina’s is serving up Machaca with Egg Burros until 10:30 am.
3. Cherryblossom Noodle Cafe

Cherryblossom Noodle Cafe is one of a kind. Located on East Camelback Road at 10th Street, the Cafe is serving noodle dishes from around the world in a casual, contemporary setting. Here’s a sample of what they’re serving up: Yakisoba, Pad Thai, Udon, Primavera, and some of the best Sushi and Ramen in the city. If you ever have those nights where you want Italian and your date wants Korean Spicy Beef, you’ve found your solution. Good luck choosing what to order!
2. Lo-Lo’s Chicken and Waffles
Lo-Lo’s is serving breakfast all day, pumping out chicken and waffles just as fast as locals are ordering them (which is a lot). If it’s your first visit: KKs includes 3 pieces of chicken southern style, 2 waffles, grits, and eggs with cheese and onions. If you’re a regular and you’re looking for something new, we love Lo-Lo’s Catfish, Chorizo Eggs, and Yo Mama’s Biscuits and Gravy.
For those with a sweet tooth, you’re in luck. The Red Velvet Pancakes are out of this world. See below.

1. Most Wanted Taco Shop
Two words: fresh and delicious. Most Wanted Taco Shop offers free samples if it’s your first visit, so you can get to know the meats they offer and find out what you like best. It’s a good investment on their part, because you’re sure to be coming back for more when you find your favorite. The Tinga, Pastor, and Barbacoa tacos are all amazing, but you’re going to like anything you order here.
