Whether you’re a St. Louis local or just stopping through, there are plenty of watering holes where you can find a quality brew. Below are seven of our favorites. If you have any that we’ve missed, feel free to throw them in the comments section below.

7. Schlafly Beer – 2100 Locust St, St. Louis

Schlafly Beer set out 20 years ago to bring beer back to St. Louis as the first brew production to open in the city after prohibition. As Missouri’s largest locally owned and independent brewery, they have one of the largest selections of beer in the country, producing around fifty unique styles a year. Half go to be bottled and the other half are available on tap in one of their two locations. Combining great beer and food together in a fun atmosphere with some live music it is not hard to see why Schlafly is so popular.

6. Urban Chestnut Brewing Company – 3229 Washington Ave, St. Louis

Described by one reviewer as the “Best German-style beer in the US I had so far (I’m German).” This probably because their brewmaster, Florian Kuplent, hails from Germany and brings more than 20 years of experience along with award-winning recipes. Coining his own philosophy known as, “Beer Divergence,” Florian combines new world techniques with old world influence to create a selection of foreign influenced beer that is unparalleled.

5. Morgan Street Brewery 721 N 2nd St, St. Louis

Morgan Street Brewery was awarded the gold medal at the World Beer Cup Championship for their golden pilsner. That pretty well sums Morgan Street Brewery up. They have multiple national and international awards to their name and know how to bring the party. They are always hosting new events and the vibrant nightlife of Morgan Street is a must see for anyone in St. Louis.

4. Square One Brewery & Distillery – 1727 Park Ave, St. Louis

Square One’s drink selection is extensive to say the least, as they offer a variety of premium beers served from the tap or from a cask at cellar temperature, as well as a collection of spirits from the distillery. By using local bounty and local ingredients, they produce full natural flavors. Square One also offers a delicious menu that is tailored to the beverages on site to make for perfect pairings.

3. The Civil Life Brewing Company – 3714 Holt Ave, St. Louis

From humble beginnings, these guys have turned a dream into reality. The Civil Life Brewing Company is one of the hottest places in St. Louis, they do not even have a phone number because of the amount of ground swell in public support. The relaxing atmosphere is the perfect place to catch up with a few friends after work or spend a lazy Sunday sampling the taco only menu.

2. Kirkwood Station – 105 E Jefferson Ave, Kirkwood, Missouri

Brewmaster Dave Johnson strives to make beers in his own vision, all the while staying true to the authentic style of the beer. With great craft beer, live music, and outstanding food, the pairing options are endless. The high approval rating on the more than 750 reviews is well deserved.

1. O’Fallon Brewery – 45 Progress Pkwy Maryland Heights, Missouri

Since 2000 O’Fallon Brewery has been creating a distinguished and award-winning line of beers that are tailored to each season. In celebration of their 15th anniversary, they have opened a 40, 000 square foot brewhouse that includes a full-service restaurant and O’Bar tap room where you can enjoy their latest creations.
