Is there anything more American than a hot dog? Other than a bald eagle eating a hot dog, the answer is no.
If you’re not from Minnesota, you may not know that we’ve got some of the best hot dog joints in the US. There’s nothing better than warming up on a cold winter’s day with a hot dog loaded with chili and habaneros like the Tasmanian Devil Dog pictured below at #1 from the Wienery. Take a look at our list of tastiest spots to get a hot dog in Minneapolis, and let us know in the comments which are your favorite spots!
4. Chris & Rob’s – 3101 East 42nd Street, Minneapolis
Run by brothers (and Chicago natives) Chris and Rob Dubnecay, Chris and Rob’s is your go-to spot in Minneapolis for a little Chicago culture. Vienna all-beef hot dogs are served with all the fixings and plenty of celery salt for good measure. Whether you’re from Chicago or not, you’ll appreciate their dogs.
3. Kramarczuk Deli – 215 East Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis

Kramarczuks nails the most important part of any good dog, the sausage. They’re expertly seasoned and it comes through in every bite. You won’t be getting a wide assortment of toppings here, most sausages are served on a bun with sauerkraut. It’s simple, and it’s delicious.
2. The Depot Tavern – 17 N 7th Street, Minneapolis
The Depot Tavern is serving up three varieties of their Diamond Dogs, each coming with russet fries, tots or coleslaw (we love the tater-tots/dog combination). Their dogs weigh a quarter-pound and are all beef, each coming wrapped in crispy pepper bacon and deep fried. Choose any of the Classic Diamond Dog, the Diamond Corn Dog, or the Diamond Chili Dog – they’re all amazing.
1. The Wienery – 414 Cedar Avenue, Minneapolis

Not only are the hot dogs top notch, their hand cut fries are to die for. The previously mentioned Tasmanian Devil is the hottest chili dog on this list, and you can turn it up if it’s not hot enough for you. The Picnic Dog comes with baked beans, coleslaw, and cheese, and also needs to be tasted. Other favorites are the Upsetter, the Mexicali, and the Maxwell. Check them out when in Minneapolis, you won’t be disappointed.
